THE CAUSES OF OUTBREAKS OF MASS REPRODUCTION OF THORN BUTTERFLY IN THE URALS

The mechanism of outbreaks of mass reproduction of thorn butterfly was first described. Under the influence of sudden thermal discontinuity in the middle of June development of a new generation of sucking roots of forage species of hawthorn is violated. As a result, a deficit of light-colored thickened thin roots is formed in woody plants for 4 years. Thorn butterfly caterpillars, which feed on fodder plants with lack of this group of fine roots, have an increased survival rate, which causes the growth of the pest. Foci of mass reproduction of thorn butterfly are formed for a very limited period of time the middle of June.
