The paper analyzes the distribution of native and derivative birch woods of Rudny Altai according to forest types, age groups, quality classes and completeness groups. The problems of the formation and sanitary conditions of derivatives birch stands were considered; the necessity to reduce the age of felling into them to prevent the formation of light forest was proved.
