In the article the questions of availability and quality of foodstuff in the food market of region are considered. Results of questioning of households of the Irkutsk region are presented. The description of features of sources of receipt of products of city and rural households is given. By results of researches principal causes of decrease in volumes of own manufacture of agricultural production on village are shown. Reserves of increase of a consumption level by the foodstuffs population according to rational norms are revealed. Necessity of independent quality check of the foodstuffs by buyers at the moment of its acquisition is proved. The list of the diagnostic test equipment of quality of products is presented. The maintenance of the information-educational campaign directed on increase of purchasing literacy of the population and informing of inhabitants of regions about norms of a healthy food is offered. On the basis of the spent analysis offers for perfection of a social and economic policy of region are developed. Proper recommendations are given.
