Changes in the viscosity of rapeseed extrudates during mechanical oil extraction

Flow curves for rapeseed extrudates
with different mass fractions of oil examined
at temperature of 25º, 50º and 75ºC have
been obtained. Analysis of the approximate
relationships for these curves has shown
that the rapeseed extrudate is a significantly
nonlinear medium, and the dependence of its
viscosity on shear rate can be described by a
power law. At temperature of 25º and 50ºC, the
mass fraction of oil falling in the range 0.446 to
0.234 has no significant effect on the viscous
properties of the extrudate. At temperature
of 75ºC, provided that the dependence of
viscosity on shear rate maintains its nonlinear
character, the flow curves are different at
various mass fractions of oil.
