The effect of agrotechnical factors on the forming of potato yield in the European North

Search for possible solutions to the problem of increasing the yield of potatoes in the European North, in particular, the Republic of Karelia, showed that realization of a complex of scientifically substantiated measures that ensure the maintenance high productivity of varieties and store it in a healthy state, will receive a yield of tubers significantly higher “climate provided”. It was noted that agricultural climatic conditions of the area have distinctively extreme nature and impose quite severe requirements to biological characteristics of cultivated marketable potatoes. For optimum growth and development, cultivated varieties should have a wide range of ontogenetic adaptability ensuring sustainable crop formation during rapidly changing conditions of the environment such as light, temperature, productive moisture stock in the soil. The degree of influence of the main elements of the improved technology determining the level of productivity of potato was found for the conditions of the region (fertilizer, mechanized methods of care, protection systems against weeds and fungal diseases, including new generations of preparations). The main components of the improved technology of potato cultivation in the conditions of Karelia were developed that allow to provide high yield. It is shown that the main contribution to the increase in the productivity and quality of agrotechnical practice belongs to mineral fertilizers and soil mechanized treatment.
