Molecular genetic analysis of sheep of different origin

The most important biological feature of mutton fatsheep is early maturation, intensive growth and development, economy type of food transformation in produce, as well as the possibility to use animals for economic purposes at an early age. The most promising and accessible to the importation and breeding in Russia is Edilbaevskaya breed of sheep, which has outstanding meat productivity. The breed was developed in Kazakhstan by means of traditional breeding; since the 1930’s purposeful breeding work was carried out, Birliksky and Suyunduksky types within breed. In 1992 the sheep of both types were imported from Kazakhstan in the Volgograd region of Russia, where the enterprise LLC “Edilbaj-Volgograd” was organized. We have performed a comparative analysis of the sheep genome ofBirliksky and Suyunduksky types of Edilbaevskaya breed of sheep by determining the frequency of occurrence of DNA fragments flanked by inverted repeats of microsatellites.
