The development of baromembrane technology for milk whey processing
Research of influence of speed of whey movement above membrane and pressure differential on process of ultrafiltration was conducted and key parameters of optimum mode were established. The problem of need for careful preparation of whey prior to entering the membrane unit was solved, which was caused by a design of membrane elements of the rolled or spiral type applied by foreign and domestic developers of the membrane equipment. It is established that process of concoction has to consist of two stages — ultrafiltrations at the first stage and nanofiltration (reverse osmosis) at the final stage. Thus the process of ultrafiltration must be carried out with the use of ceramic membranes, which do not require preparation of whey, have a term of exploitation in 3–5 times anymore as compared to polymeric membranes and regenerated considerably simpler. Information about the developed technology and equipment for the whey processing by membrane methods was given.
