Сomparative examination of cognac’s quality sold in retail in Ekaterinburg
In the article the results of comparative examination of cognac’s quality realized in a retail distribution network of Ekaterinburg
are given. For examination 3 samples of ordinary cognacs of different producers within the same price category have
been selected: “RORO” (RORO LTD), “Tri zvezdochki” (Piteyniy dom LTD), “Tri zvezdochki” (JSC AС “Zhemchuzhina
Stavropolya”). Examination of cognacs’ quality was carried out on organoleptic, physical and chemical indicators. Research
of cognac’s quality on organoleptic parameters is carried out according to ten-point scale, and defines such indicators as the
appearance, taste, bouquet and typicalness. The physic-chemical parameters determine the completeness of filling and the alcohol
content. These indicators have to meet the established standards of GOST P 51618-2009 “Russian cognacs. General
specifications”. As a result of an assessment of cognacs’ quality according to organoleptic parameters it is established that all
samples conform to requirements of GOST P 51618-2009 “Russian cognacs. General specifications”. On physic-chemical
parameters only the Russian cognac “Three zvezdochki” produced by JSC AC “Zhemchuzhina Stavropolya” doesn’t meet the
standards established by GOST P 51618-2009 “Russian cognacs. The general specifications” as the strength of the drink is
equal to 35.5 %. During examination we faced the case of a high-quality and informational falsification of the cognac, namely,
a notorious change of the drink’s strength.
