Early postembryogenesis of Tersk barbel (BARBUS CISCAUCASICUS KESSLER) Terek River basin (Central Caucasus , Russia )

The article presents the original information about the early post-embryonic development of endemic species of fish ponds in Kabardino-Balkaria — Terek barbel (Barbus ciscaucasicus Kessler). Found that barbel spawning lasts from late May to early August. It occurs in small rivers valleys and foothills zone of Kabardino-Balkaria, and in the ducts, sleeves and partly — in the mainstream of major rivers. Material for this paper is taken from rivers Shalushka, Kenzhe, Nalchik, etc. In the message were shown morphological descriptions of early stages of development of the Terek barbel from late larvae to two-years old. They are accompanied by original drawings and photographs, were also studied ecological peculiarities of these steps. In particular, the set of natural objects prey juvenile barbel: a dominant role in its power play river larvae chironomid species. Found that the basic “starter feed” in the natural waters of the Kabardino-Balkaria for young larvae are barbel Terek river chironomid species and subfamilies Diamesinae and Orthocladiinae. Based on established morphological parameters concludes opportunities species identification Terek juvenile barbel in the early stages of growth increases horizontally (at the stage of late larvae). The data on the morphology of juvenile barbel Terek allow it to differentiate clearly already at the late larva. Larvae, fingerlings, yearlings and two-year-differ greatly not only from the Terek and nematoceran minnows and loach Krynica, but also from other species studied in this aspect of long-horned beetles (Caspian and ordinary). Small rivers in the foothills of the CBD play a decisive role in the reproduction of the Terek barbel. During the vegetation period (May to September) Terek barbel fingerlings grow to an average of 31 mm and a weight of 257 mg.
